Greetings from the Director of the Bekka

Osamu Inoue, Dean, Bekka

The Bekka (Intensive Japanese Language Program) of Takushoku University is one of the leading institutions of Japanese language education in Japan, both in terms of history and scale. In its half-century history, more than 5,000 international students have completed the program.
It is often said that "history is proof of trust," and I believe this saying applies to the Bekka of Takushoku University as well. This is because newly enrolled students tend to choose our program through word of mouth and referrals from past graduates who studied at the Bekka. The high level of satisfaction of the Bekka graduates is proven by our history.
Please take a look at the Bekka curriculum. We offer a full range of courses in Japanese language according to each student's ability and career path. For those who wish to prepare for entrance exams to universities and graduate schools around Japan, we offer a number of elective courses, including level-specific English, humanities subjects (general studies, mathematics for humanities), and science subjects (mathematics for science, physics, chemistry, and biology). In addition, "class seminars" provide not only detailed educational guidance by class teachers, but also active interaction with Takushoku University undergraduate students (Student Assistants). This is possible only because the Bekka is located on the Takushoku University Bunkyo Campus.
Takushoku University facilities (library, computer study room, medical office, student cafeteria, purchasing club, etc.) are of course freely available to Bekka students.
For those who wish to enter Takushoku University after completing the Bekka program, there is an admission recommendation system for each faculty. This system allows students to be exempted from the entrance examination if they achieve the required grades in the Bekka program. For those who have already attended a university in their home country, there is also a transfer system that allows students to begin their junior or sophomore year at Takushoku University.
Scholarships and awards are also available for students with outstanding academic achievements, including “the Takushoku University Bekka Scholarship”, “the Takayama International Education Foundation Scholarship”, “the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Award for Bekka Students with Superior Achievements”, and “the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students Award for Bekka Students with Superior Achievements.”
In addition, the Bekka also focuses on recreational activities to help newcomers to Japan quickly become familiar with Japan. On-campus events, off-campus Japanese cultural experiences, and overnight study tours will surely provide our students with good memories in Japan.
If you are interested in studying in Japan, why not make your first step at the Bekka (Intensive Japanese Language Program) of Takushoku University, located in the heart of Tokyo? The faculty and staff of the Bekka look forward to welcoming you to Japan.
