Founding Philosophy<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n Producing talented and enterprising individuals
\r\n possessing the cultural sophistication and
\r\n personal character to make them worthy of the
\r\n respect of all peoples\r\n <\/h5>\r\n \r\n \r\n \"\"\r\n <\/picture>\r\n

Takushoku University was founded by Prince KATSURA Taro in 1900 as the Taiwan Association School with the goal of producing individuals capable of contributing to the development of Taiwan. Having remained true to its founding philosophy ever since, the University is recognized for its significant achievements as a pioneering international university, and many of its graduates have gone on to leave their mark on the world. <\/p>\r\n

Now, with the world moving forward and growing more internationalized and globalized, activities across the political, economic, and cultural spectrum are becoming increasingly cross-border in nature, and we need to move beyond mere international exchange and focus instead on living in harmony with people whose cultures and ways of life differ from our own. What the world needs, in other words, is people whose outlooks are founded on a common recognition that we are all human beings sharing this same planet.<\/p>\r\n

This sentiment is echoed in the words of the Takushoku University song: \u201cThere is no discrimination where I stand.\u201d In adherence to this, the University remains committed to educating internationally minded students who can succeed and play their part in Japan, Asia, and the rest of the world.<\/p>\r\n

The map of the world above is reproduced from a stage curtain presented to the University by Seibu Department Stores, Ltd., to commemorate the completion of the lecture hall formerly called Myogadani Hall (in Building H on the Bunkyo Campus) in 1957, and it is now displayed as a tapestry in the foyer of the new Building E on the same campus. The design represents the University\u2019s global vision inspired by its founding philosophy.<\/p>\r\n <\/section>\r\n\r\n

School Song of Takushoku University<\/h3>\r\n

The school song of Takushoku University was established in 1919.<\/p>\r\n

The lyrics were written by Prof. MIYAHARA Minpei, a fourth class alumnus, and the music was produced by NAGAI Kenshi, sixth band master of the Army Band.<\/p>\r\n

The song was unveiled at Myogadani athletic meet on November 3, 1919. The heroic music and lofty lyrics moved students and took Takushoku University\u2019s spirit to new heights. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
